The beloved Wisconsin painter, Ruth Grotenrath, who produced murals during the WPA era, went on to develop a bold signature style that is modern and continues to be popular among museum visitors and collectors. Work in the exhibition will range from life drawings and casual sketches to full color paintings.
The Magical Black Tears Experience Exhibition
The Magical Black Tears Experience is an interactive pilot exhibition based on the children’s picture book Magical Black Tears: A Protest Story, written by Decoteau J. Irby. The exhibition teaches children ages 4-12 about direct action as a vehicle for creating a more just society for Black people. In the exhibition, caregivers and children can watch films, read, write, create, pretend-play, and problem-solve in a fun setting that teaches how everyday people take direct action to create a world free from racism.
Kinesiology means “the study of movement.” This exhibition includes work in diverse media from the Haggerty Museum of Art’s collection, depicting bodies in motion and referencing exercise, athletics, and interactions with the environment.
